Aether is one of Outlier’s most active projects, with thousands of tasks available on a daily basis. It focuses on video and image evaluation, where contributors assess short clips or screenshots and label specific features that help improve AI models. The work requires attention to detail and steady focus, but it also offers flexibility and a creative rhythm that many contributors have grown to love.

When we asked Aether contributors what stands out most, they talked about the balance between structure and independence, the different types of task, and the sense of reliability that comes from a project that almost always has work available.

For Kyra B., it’s the variety that keeps her coming back.

“I enjoy the variety of tasks we’re given week to week — it keeps things fresh and engaging,” she says.

That sense of constant renewal is echoed by Ryan I., who appreciates that “there are always projects available, and they’re never boring.” Together, their comments paint a picture of a project that rewards curiosity, and where no two days feel exactly the same.

That steady flow of new tasks helps contributors stay motivated. The combination of incentives and clear expectations provides a structure that supports consistency without adding stress. “Having the tasks change regularly keeps me motivated,” Kyra says.

Zakariya B. agrees that Aether’s rhythm makes it easy to stay on track.

“The $100 incentive for 20 hours helps me stay consistent.”

Ryan adds that he appreciates how accessible the work feels: “The tasks are relatively easy, especially compared to other projects.”

Many contributors mention that Aether strikes a rare balance between simplicity and purpose, offering space to work productively without pressure.

Contributors also share thoughtful advice for those just starting out. Madeleine B. encourages newcomers to focus on quality.

“Learn what makes a high-quality task,” she says. “It pays off.”

Kyra notes that “the tasks are low stress and easy to pick up once you get the hang of them,” while Ryan suggests something more personal. “Listen to music, relax, and enjoy the process,” he says. That shared mindset reflects what makes Aether work so well: it allows contributors to find their own rhythm while they work.

For many, Aether has become more than a project. It’s a routine that provides calm and focus, a reliable way to earn extra income and feel accomplished.

“Outlier has become my happy place,” adds another contributor. “It’s where I feel productive and valued.”

As Aether continues to evolve, it’s clear that its strength comes from the contributors themselves — people like Kyra, Madeleine, Ryan, and Zakariya, who approach each task with care, curiosity, and a sense of pride. Their experiences remind us that great work happens when structure supports creativity and people have the space to do their best.
