We are looking for people who feel they just need the room and right experiences to grow, or are so close to being at a senior level but not being recognized or valued for their contributions. We want to give you the space and opportunity to become a senior level engineer that is truly appreciated for all the contributions you make.
Help us build a product that addresses an important, unsolved problem in business intelligence today, on a team that solves problems together, learns from one another, and wants to make all our lives better. Help us build and launch new capabilities, improve our platform, and watch your work impact your fellow engineers, the broader Outlier team, and our customers!
As a Senior Software Engineer at Outlier, you will:
- Work with your team delivering value across our stack – primarily in Node.js, React, some Go and maybe Ruby
- Design, implement, and ship user facing features
- Collaborate with others at Outlier to understand our customers’ challenges and how we can improve the product
To be a great fit for the position, you should have:
- Coded yourself as an individual contributor in the past few years
- Value the user experience and the needs of customers
- A constant desire to learn and improve
- Enjoy collaborating, pair programming and working alongside other humans
Please note that if you are selected, part of our interview experience will include a project-based take-home challenge where you’ll have the opportunity to present your work to the team. We’re aware that there are downsides to take-home challenges, but we do believe it strikes the best balance between being respectful of your time and giving us something real to talk about during the interview.
Tips for your CV: For each company you have worked with, put the projects you have worked on and the technologies you used, with the newest things first. We really want to see what you’ve been working with. Whilst a huge list of technology is nice, we really want to see how much time you spent with this tech at your various roles and projects. Also, just because you only enjoyed a few days around a library or language, it’s still worth including to show you have been exposed to it. We know your education consumed an awful lot of your time and energy, but place it at the end. We are much more interested in your working experiences than your time spent studying.
We are a life-friendly company. Lots of us have young children, social needs, illnesses both visible and invisible, and other commitments. That’s life. We understand and support each other.
At Outlier we genuinely believe that a diverse, and inclusive workplace leads to a happier team and better product. Outlier is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
