Trending Up in States and Counties
Benton, Arkansas, sees a large increase in the number of newly confirmed cases they’ve seen. Since January 1st, the county has seen an increase in the number of Coronavirus confirmations and is now 230% over expected.
New York County in New York is also seeing an increase in the number of newly confirmed cases. Since January 7th, the county has seen an increase and is currently 5% higher than expected.
Anne Arundel County in Maryland sees an increase in the last few days over the number of newly reported cases. This county is now 8% higher than expected.
In this week over week story, you can see California is increasing significantly for the number of newly confirmed cases. The Golden State now accounts for 16% of the newly confirmed cases in the US and is 4% higher than expected.
This is predominately being driven by Southern California, as depicted in this Root Cause Analysis. Los Angeles, San Diego and Riverside counties are contributing the most.
Similar to California, the Lone Star state of Texas is also seeing an increase week over week with regards to the amount of newly confirmed Coronavirus cases. The State now accounts for 9% of the newly confirmed cases and is 24% higher than expected.
You likely read last week that Japan issued a second state of emergency. This New Normal story shows that for several days, the amount of Japan’s newly confirmed cases of Coronavirus have increased and created a new normal story. Since January 6th, the country has seen a 99% increase in this metric.
Staying in Asia, Indonesia has seen a 2% increase in the number of newly confirmed cases. The world is watching Indonesia, which started a vaccine program targeted to vaccinate middle-aged persons first versus the elderly. Their increasing trend since January 8th means that Indonesia now accounts for 2% of the newly confirmed cases in the world.
Moving to Latin America, Columbia sees an increase in the amount of newly confirmed cases. Their new Benchmark story is 35% higher than expected and the country accounts for 2% of the cases confirmed yesterday.
In good news, Ukraine is decreasing in the number of the newly confirmed cases in this week over week story. The country is now 34% below expected.
