Here’s what we found out about yesterday:
Global Cases on the Rise
After initial growth in new cases, Russia seemed to have steadied the rate of new cases. However, the past few days show a sustained new trend of infection, 65% higher than average previously, and has created a New Normal story. Russia has now overtaken France and Germany to become the fifth-highest number in the world.
Brazil is also seeing an increase in the number of confirmed cases. Yesterday’s figure is the highest the country has seen and is 56% above expected. Brazil now accounts for 12% of the confirmed cases yesterday.
Iran is seeing more cases and is 15% over expected as the country warns of an arising trend. They now account for 2% of confirmed cases yesterday.
Kenya is 85% over expected and has been increasing over the last several days. Yesterday’s figures are the highest they’ve seen.
Flattening the Curve
Good news! The Netherlands has flattened and reversed the curve. The country is 44% below expected and their number of cases has dropped by half, now accounting .02% of confirmed cases.
In more good news, Maryland is seeing a downward trend in the number of new cases. They are 8% below expected and only accounting for 4% of yesterday’s cases in the US.
