Here’s what we found yesterday:
Japan just declared a State of Emergency. Here’s why: densely populated areas such as Japan are continuing to show new confirmed cases. In this Rank Story, Japan moved from yesterday’s 133 position to today’s position of 17, with regard to the number of confirmed cases worldwide. This is a 359% change day over day.
United States Counties and States Are Trending Up Too
In the United States, new confirmed cases are trending up too in the state of Illinois as 44 counties are now reporting new cases as of yesterday. The state reported a 53% increase than expected.
The Lone Star state of Texas isn’t unique either as new confirmed cases in Harris County jumped 273%, which accounts for 1% of all cases in the US.
Cases are trending up in Rhode Island too. Yesterday, the state showed an 11% increase in confirmed cases as compared to the previous day.
Good News on the Horizon
While pockets of the US and certain countries are experiencing new confirmed cases, there is good news. Globally, day-over-day cases dropped by 2%. The decrease in cases is being led by the US, followed by Spain, Germany, Italy and the UK, respectively.
Additionally, new confirmed cases in Belgium are trending down by 8%.
In other stories on countries, the curve continues to flatten in Australia as new confirmed cases are trending downwards. For the past month, the country has experienced 24% fewer cases than the previous period.
Day-by-day the value is even more positive as new confirmed cases decreased by 39% in one region. The Root Cause Analysis shows New South Wales, Victoria Queensland, Western Australia and South Australia are all contributing to this decline in the amount of newly confirmed cases.
